I'm Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario.
Schools are pretty special places, where millions of young Ontarians go to study and play and learn from each other everyday of the school year.
We all want our schools to be safe, welcoming and accepting -- and they generally are -- but sometimes they're not.
Some students in our schools are being bullied because they're gay.
To those of you who face bullying or feel that you are alone, I want you to know you're not.
Ontarians are overwhelmingly kind and decent people.
We respect and accept you for who you are, and we believe you deserve to be loved and to find love.
People care about you -- I care about you.
There are a lot of people telling you right now that It Gets Better.
And it does.
You have to know that, and believe that.
But we -- as your teachers, your leaders, your government, your community and your parents -- we all need to do more than tell you it gets better.
We need to work together to make it better.
What some are doing to you is not okay.
And when those who see bullying do nothing to stop it, that's not okay either.
If you're in crisis, please call 1-800-668-6868 and visit kidshelphone.ca
It does get better.
And all of us together are going to make it better.
