캐나다 이민난민시민부(IRCC)가 Express Entry 시스템을 통해 프랑스어 구사 능력을 갖춘 지원자 4,500명에게 이민 신청 초대장(ITA)을 발급했다.

IRCC에 따르면, 프랑스어 사용 가능 후보자는 올해 Express Entry 시스템을 통해 총 3만 건 이상의 초청장을 수령했다. 퀘벡을 제외한 지역의 프랑스어 이민 목표도 내년 상향 조정이 예정되어 있어, 앞으로 프랑스어 능통자를 위한 추가 추첨이 더 활발히 이뤄질 전망이다.
이번 추첨은 10월 2일에 실시되었으며, 이는 10월 1일 캐나다 경험 이민(CEC), 9월 29일 주정부 지명 프로그램(PNP), 9월 18일 전문직(Trades) 부문 추첨에 이어 진행된 것이다.
IRCC는 2025년 현재까지 Express Entry를 통해 총 70,338건의 초청장을 발급했다. 올해는 특히 PNP(주정부 지명 프로그램) 중심의 추첨이 많았으며, 그 외 초청은 CEC 후보자, 프랑스어 능통자, 직종 우선 카테고리를 중심으로 배정되었다.
이번 결과는 캐나다 정부가 언어 다양성 확대와 프랑스어 사용 인구 유입에 계속 초점을 맞추고 있음을 보여준다.
